The Alpha programme is running in several parishes of the diocese. It is wonderful to see the sharing of faith at so many different levels as people connect with one another and grow in trust with each sharing their journey.
A question many have on completing Alpha and after taking part in fostering new people into new Alpha groups is ‘What next?’
For those who have encountered Jesus through Alpha or through the RCIA course some want to know more about their faith. At base is the desire to know Jesus much more and to follow him more closely in their everyday life. Many want to know more fully what it means to be Catholic and how the Church understands itself and is always changing, as it has done for more than 2000 years.
It means not so much “walking by faith” (2 Cor 5:7) but taking wings to soar in faith. Ngā Parirau/Wings is a home-grown program with choices for people to grow further in faith, in small groups who together explore the depths and heights of what it is to follow Jesus. It is about belonging, becoming disciples who share the joy of the Gospel and reach out to others who long to know what it really is to have life to the full.
