The Diocese of Palmerston North is currently offering three Online Synod Sessions that are open to anyone within the diocese to register for and participate. Scroll down to explore some questions you may have and links to register!
Why are Online Sessions being held?
Although the preference is for groups to gather and participate in the Synod process in-person, we recognise that while we remain in the Red Setting of the Covid-19 protection framework, an online option may suit some better. With that in mind, the Diocese of Palmerston North will offer at least three online sessions in March.
Who can participate in these Online Sessions?
Anyone from the Diocese of Palmerston North is welcome to register for one of these sessions. This includes the regions of Taranaki, Whanganui, Waimarino, Manawatu, Tararua, Hawkes Bay and Wairoa.
Sessions will be capped at 20 participants and require a minimum of 6 participants to go ahead.
What will the session involve?
Each session has been assigned one of the five key themes from the Synod Submission Handbook.
Participants will be split into groups of up to 10. You will then be led through the Synod Process of discernment by a facilitator, being asked to share your reflections at times through the process of listening. More about the process can also be found in the Synod Submission Handbook.
The session will run for approximately 1 hour.
Based on the conversation and sharing, a submission will then be made to the diocese.
How can I register?
Below are links to register for one of the three sessions. You may choose to register based on a time or date that suits you or which theme most interests you. Find out more about the themes on Page 5 of the Synod Submission Handbook.
You will be asked to provide some contact details and basic demographic information to assist with the submission.
Registration spaces are limited and will close a few days before the scheduled session – so get in quick!
Before the session, you will be emailed some further information and the link to join the online meeting.
