Jubilee of the World of Volunteering
8 – 9 March 2025
This weekend, we recognise and thank the volunteers who breathe life into ministries, charities, and organisations within our community, supporting the Church’s mission of compassion, hope, and service.
Prayers for Volunteers
For volunteers who donate their time and resources for the life of the Church and the world. May God reward their generosity with grace and blessing. May their act of selfless service inspire others to follow their examples.
E te Ariki …
For those called to serve as volunteers in the Church and the world, may the Holy Spirit move their hearts to embrace the joy of service. May they respond to God’s invitation with open hands and a willing spirit, bringing hope and light to those in need.

Pilgrimage to Hiruhārama-Jerusalem
8 March 2025
Bishop John invites everyone to undertake a pilgrimage during this Jubilee Year as a way of deepening their faith and embracing the call to be Pilgrims of Hope.
A pilgrimage is more than just a journey—it is a time of faith, reflection, and encounter with God. As Pope Francis reminds us, a pilgrimage is not a vacation but a sacred opportunity to step away from daily life and seek renewal.
Our Diocesan pilgrimage to Hiruhārama-Jerusalem will be a chance to walk in the footsteps of faith, sharing in prayer, Mass, and moments of silence and reflection.
PRAYER OF UNKNOWING
My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going. I do not see the road ahead of me. I cannot know for certain where it will end. Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think I am following your will does not mean that I am actually doing so. But I believe that the desire to please you does in fact please you. And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing.
I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire. And I know that if I do this you will lead me by the right road, though I may know nothing about it. Therefore will I trust you always though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death. I will not fear, for you are ever with me, and you will never leave me to face my perils alone. Amen.

24 Hours for the Lord
28 March 2025
In this Jubilee Year, all faith communities are invited to participate in 24 Hours for the Lord, a worldwide day of prayer, reconciliation, and renewal, inaugurated by Pope Francis.
Held annually on the eve of the fourth Sunday of Lent, this initiative unites Catholics across the globe, inspiring hope in our hearts, our whānau, our communities, and our world.
